One sentence of prompt. One HTML file. Eighteen lines, three regions, twenty-one honours and a Grand Trunk to the capital. The machine did not ask any follow-up questions.

THE PROMPT THAT STARTED IT ALL 🧠

> Create me an incremental game where you build a railway network. The game should take 2-3 hours to play, and include prestige.▌

That’s it. That’s the brief. Everything else — every line of code, every pixel, every note — came out of the machine. Typos preserved for authenticity.Disclosure: a human may have intervened afterwards, when the machine made the first upgrade cost more than the GDP of Wales, or decided a run should last eleven hours. Even then, the human only fixed it by typing more prompts and sighing loudly. 🫠

About the Slop

An incremental game about building a Victorian railway. You start as general manager of one short branch line with no trains and £10, and build a network across the Dales, the Midlands and the Coast to the capital at Kingsgate.

Buy trains, lay track, rebuild stations from Halt to Terminus and buy Works that double your lines. When the company stalls, amalgamate it for Charters that boost all income forever and buy standing orders in the Boardroom.

Finish the three great works of the Grand Trunk — the Ravensgill Viaduct, the Kingsgate Tunnel and Kingsgate Terminus — to win. The whole game is one self-contained HTML file. No build step. No humans.

✨ GAME-CHANGING FEATURES

  • Eighteen lines across the Dales, the Midlands and the Coast
  • Stations rebuilt from Halt to Grand Terminus
  • Special trains appear every few minutes for bonus income
  • Amalgamate for Charters: permanent +50% income each
  • Boardroom standing orders automate everything eventually
  • Twenty-one honours and a three-part Grand Trunk finale

How To Play

A quick guide for your first session. The machine wrote the game; we wrote this bit from its README.

  1. Press “Dispatch a train” for a little money by hand, then buy trains for your line. Each train earns money every second.

  2. Lay track to a neighbouring town to open a new line. A line’s income doubles at 10, 25, 50, 100 trains and beyond.

  3. Rebuild stations from Halt up to Terminus to lift every line that calls there. Junctions pay back soonest.

  4. Buy Works that double whole groups of lines, and click the special trains that appear every few minutes.

  5. The “Next” strip under the header always tells you what to aim for.

  6. When growth stalls, Amalgamate for Charters. Each one adds 50% to all income for good, and they buy standing orders in the Boardroom.
